Dear Guests, Welcome to my blog which I treat like a creative garden where I regularly plant and change this and that be it poetry, philosophy, an Oboe Brilliance lesson, an essay of some kind, or a journal about composing. Visit every Monday for oboe coaching which is also helpful for many melodic instrumentalists. Musically yours, Kathryn

"How do you compose?" That is the most commonly asked question I hear.
This blog is a window into my creative process and philosophies as a composer and instrumentalist. At times it may contain music, photos, and poetry as well. May you enjoy, return, and benefit!

Shaghall

Shaghall is the name of an advanced Sufi practice where the Murshid goes into a deep place to hear the divine harmony of the spheres. It has been practiced for thousands of years and I'd be very surprised if this divine meditation doesn't predate Judaism or even the dominant matriarchal religious practices before the sons of Abraham.

After years of practicing meditation, studying/practicing Sufism, and studying musical composition, I am pleased to be able to dilute and translate the kind of sounds that I've heard while practicing Shaghall to give other Murshids or those curious about this, an opportunity to get an approximate idea of what it has sounded like to me.

What I hear is out of the human audible realm and also somewhat within it so I to transpose it into a human's hearing range bringing the experience down to earth a bit in order to share.

Shaghall per Samia is available to sample and buy in mp3 form on the MUSIC page of my website.

Yours Musically,
Kathryn (Samia) Potter
