Dear Guests, Welcome to my blog which I treat like a creative garden where I regularly plant and change this and that be it poetry, philosophy, an Oboe Brilliance lesson, an essay of some kind, or a journal about composing. Visit every Monday for oboe coaching which is also helpful for many melodic instrumentalists. Musically yours, Kathryn

"How do you compose?" That is the most commonly asked question I hear.
This blog is a window into my creative process and philosophies as a composer and instrumentalist. At times it may contain music, photos, and poetry as well. May you enjoy, return, and benefit!

Choices in life

I believe that we are born with free will - regardless of what culture in which we are born.

I believe that the quality of our individual lives is determined by the choices we make. The wiser, the more compassionate, the more loving, the more respectful our choices, the better will be the quality of our life and those around us.

I believe that no one can make our choices for us and therefore we are soley responsible for the choices we make. Likewise we are not responsible for the choices other people make. The more we discover our personal power of responsibility via choice, the more conscious we can be in making choices, and the better we can distinguish between personal power, personal influence, manipulation, and violation of will or the respect of independent will.

I also believe that it is up to us to be as conscious and respectful of our own will and choices. It is our job to uphold them and to be understanding that our choices are our own to make, no one can make them for us, and no one else has to agree with our choices.

It is up to the individual to decide what to do and what not to do and why! Making choices out of joy, hope, passion, compassion, concern for others and self lead to the brightest and most fulfilling life.

Our life and the quality of our life is defined by the choices we make.

ChereBono once said (if I remember correctly - this is at least close enought )"My decisions are between me and God and anybody who doesn't like it can kiss my ass!"

I think that's a very healthy attitude and I completely agree with that.

Musically Yours,

Kathryn
